How couples pair a Bangkok registration with a honeymoon on the Andaman coast, the Gulf islands or the north, and which coast is dry when.

Couples who marry in Thailand hold an advantage no other wedding gives them. The honeymoon destination is already outside the window. The same country that issued the marriage certificate holds beaches, islands, mountains and food that people cross the world for, so the wedding trip and the honeymoon can be one continuous plan, one set of flights, and one budget doing the work of two. This article lays out how couples shape that plan, which pairings of registration city and honeymoon place work best, and the honest seasonal rule that decides between the two coasts.
The legal half of that plan is what the Pride Legal Marriage service arranges. This article is about the other half.
The legal steps anchor the first days in Bangkok, where the embassies, the certified translators, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the district office all sit. The ministry’s legalization generally takes three to five working days. We ask couples to plan at least six working days in Thailand after the embassy step, and eight to ten where they can, which is time enough for a Bangkok honeymoon-before-the-honeymoon, the hotels along the river, the food from street to starred, the rooftop evenings. Registration day closes the legal chapter, and the certificate travels home in your bag. Every day after it belongs to the honeymoon, and the only question is which Thailand you want.
The most travelled route runs from the registration in Bangkok to the Andaman coast, a short flight to Phuket or Krabi. Phuket gives the honeymoon its full luxury form, sunset-facing resorts, private pool villas, and dinners on the sand. Krabi and Railay trade some polish for the most dramatic scenery in the country, limestone towers over turquoise bays. Couples wanting quiet choose Khao Lak’s long empty beaches an hour north of Phuket, or the boutique island of Koh Yao Noi between Phuket and Krabi, where a handful of resorts share the whole horizon. The Andaman side is at its best from November to April.
The Gulf of Thailand carries the honeymoon through the middle of the year, when the Andaman side turns wet. Koh Samui runs the boutique version of the island honeymoon, palm-lined beaches and villas at a calmer tempo than Phuket, and its neighbour Koh Phangan, past its full moon reputation, hides quiet northern beaches and small resorts that suit a honeymoon better than a party. Samui’s dry stretch runs from January into September, so a June or July wedding honeymoons here rather than on the west coast.
Not every honeymoon is a beach. Chiang Mai and the northern mountains offer the other Thailand, temples, forest lodges, cooking mornings, elephant sanctuaries chosen carefully for their ethics, and cool evenings from November to February that feel like a different climate. Couples with ten days or more often run the full arc, Bangkok for the registration, the north for the culture, and an island to land on at the end, which is three honeymoons stitched into one itinerary.
The combined trip concentrates spending where it is felt. The legal essentials cost little beside any Western wedding, and the money saved on a reception buys villa nights and flights within Thailand, which are short and inexpensive. A honeymoon week on either coast spans every budget, from small beachfront resorts to the platinum end of Phuket and Samui, and the couple controls the dial. The one cost that cannot be bought back is time lost to a paperwork mistake, because a repeated embassy visit or a missed legalization appointment spends honeymoon days on queues. The trip protects itself when the legal half is prepared from home.
We handle the legal half of the trip, plannable from abroad and completable in a single visit, so the honeymoon half can be planned around a registration day that holds.
Pride Legal Thailand arranges the registration of marriages in Thailand for two people of any gender and any nationality. The fee is ฿49,000 (~1,480 USD) for both partners, fixed, with VAT and government fees included; registration outside the Bangkok region costs ฿10,000 (~300 USD) more.
The days in Bangkok are set by the registration; the service page explains what it takes to register your marriage in Bangkok. The steps in order: how two foreigners can get married in Thailand.
